I am Shreya Khiani, 20 year old Fashion Designer based in Paris, France. Born and raised on the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, I am passionate about exploring the intersections of entrepreneurship and fashion design through a cultural lens. My enthusiasm for fashion began as an adolescent trying to figure out who I am. I saw accessories representing different aspects of myself that I chose to express, or patterns and materials reminiscent of rich cultures through which I am bound by my Indian nationality. I realized that through fashion, expression of individualism and identity is possible, which empowers me in a society where I can often feel lost in a crowd. My escaped interests in fashion motivates me every day to empower other people around me to discover their own identity.
When I embark on a creative project, my work is driven is by the desire to solve or explore challenges. As a designer, I share ideas, and reflect my clients’ stories on fabrics and threads as I wove clothes that best represents their true authentic selves. My biggest takeaway from this experience is that everything that is riveting in the creative world is a result of collaboration and change to create a living dialogue.
Mirroring my inquisitive nature to experiment with possible designs, my creation integrates intention with the wearer’s interpretation as well as with cultural relevance and global microtrends.
Creativity heightens technology, business, and art, I am driven to share my perspective of the world beyond the boundaries of the conventional business models. I use a three-dimensional aspect of combining art, entrepreneurship, and awareness and the dialogue it creates to tell the story of humanity in my own way. My values align with the Industry's to innovation, I look forward to further expanding beyond my current knowledge in fashion and design by engaging in challenging courses
